Overtime not compensated
Risto worked in a construction company for more than two years, and during the entire period of his employment contract, he was not paid for overtime work.
Initially, we held negotiations with the employer, who refused to pay these amounts voluntarily. The case proceeded to the court of first instance. The employer claimed that Risto was on a piece-rate pay scheme, and overtime did not need to be compensated.
The court concluded that the employee was, in fact, on an hourly pay scheme, and all overtime had gone unpaid. The employer was ordered to pay Risto compensation for overtime in the amount of 6,487 euros. Risto’s legal costs were covered by government funds.
